Tame parakeets

Hi  guys,

I have a question: Where can I buy a pair of TAME parakeets? I checked out Petko and Petsmart but they have only untamed birds. Thanks!

Thanks! That's great! Is this list updated?

Can I come and see the birds first and then decide whether I want to adopt any of them? I assume they all are healthy, right?

Ugh, sorry for the bad formatting in my first comment, guess I forgot to close the link!

The list of available birds is updated every 15 minutes or so from our database. That said, some available birds may not be on the site because we don't have a picture or story for them or for some other reason.

Incoming birds to the rescue get any necessary medical care (anything we can tell is obviously wrong with them is addressed) however we do not give every incoming bird a medical check by default. The rescue spends an average of $5,000 on medical bills each month for the urgent stuff - any bird with an obvious illness is treated, any bird with any perceived issues is checked out by a vet. However, for each adoption we do require the adopter to take the birds to the vet for a well-bird check and if an illness is found Mickaboo will pay for the treatment.

We will be having an adoption event in San Jose on April 20th at which some of the fostered birds will be available for people to meet - since all our birds are in foster homes (we don't have a central facility of any sort) we don't allow people to meet birds until they're approved (for the sake of our foster homes not having the general public going to their home, and because a lot of people never finish the approval process for one reason or another).

That said, once you're approved, there is no pressure to "adopt now!" - if you meet birds and none of them are "the ones" then you can be notified when new birds are surrendered so you can arrange to meet them.

I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any other questions :)

I totally support going to Mickaboo first!
However, Craigslist often has birds as well. And young budgies are not difficult to tame if you put the time in.

Unfortunately don't have time to tame them. I am a full time working mom of a todler. I didn't find anything on a Craigslist (it was my first place to check :)
Thanks though!

I can sell you a pair of hand fed parakeets ($50 for a pair). I only hand fed parakeets on request--it takes about a month. Contact me via Email or phone (707)448-5957 if you want me to hand feed a pair of my baby parakeets for you.
